My family and I went to Arkansas to visit My Uncle, Aunt and 2 cousins, in the beginning of August. They live by a beautiful lake and have a spectacular boat that it is fun to be on and very relaxing.
Anyway, on Wednesday, (about half way into our vacation) my cousins and I were on the dock together, just talking, having a good time. My younger cousin was fooling around, swinging a paddle and accidentally hit me in the front of my head. I saw many black spots and began to feel very dizzy. Trying not to worry about what just happened to me, I walked up to the house as quick as I could without losing my balance. I told my Dad what happened and he had me rest on the couch and got me an ice pack. I started to get a bad headache and he gave me a few Advils. As time went on my head started throbbing and I felt very confused, my memory was very bad (to the point of me forgetting, how old I was, forgetting my family members, forgetting where I was, and even forgetting what year it was! I thought I was 16 and I was married, for gosh-sake! At this point my family took me to the hospital, where doctors examined me. A doctor asked my family what symptoms I was experiencing, and then he asked me, how I was feeling. He wrote what we said to him down. He prescribed Extra-Strength Tylenol. He kindly told me get some rest and he would be back in 20 minutes to check my pain level and further medicate me if need be. When he came back and observed me for a while, at that point I began to feel very drowsy and just wanted to sleep. The pain, for the most part, subsided. The doctor told my family that I had an acute concussion. He went on to say, due to my past medical history, that I am much more prone to a concussion due to my TBI. The doctor recommended for me to get a lot of sleep and to stay away from TVs, computers and phones for the next 48 hours.
Update: I am feeling much better now, the neurological pain has subsided. I have been getting lots of sleep, thankfully, as the doctor said it is very crucial to my brain and it’s healing. I still have an appointment with the Physiatrist due to my first incident with my back and now for this incident. I will keep you updated.
